October is here...
It has been a crazy week for us!! On Tuesday Caleb had his 4 month appt and we found out he had gained 5 ounces in 2 months. Ahh! That is not good! We knew he was a string bean, but he had been growing longer so we weren't concerned. We found ourselves at the hospital the next morning watching Caleb endure an upper GI test, and we were so thankful when they didn't find anything wrong! That afternoon we started offering formula after he nursed, and we discovered that he was a hungry little boy! My first reaction was horror that I wasn't making enough milk for him, and he had been not getting what he needed for who knows how long. My second reaction was huge relief! If all he needs is more food, that is something we can do! So this morning after supplementing with formula for less than 48 hours Caleb weighed in at 11 ounces heavier!!! What a miracle! The doctor described it as "Third Child Syndrome" when the mommy is always moving around caring for everybody that it is hard to make enough milk to satisfy a little growing baby. She says it happens all the time and that Caleb will have no long term impact from the past couple months. I'm so relieved! So I plan to keep nursing so he can benefit from my antibodies and also supplement so that he can be adding on the pounds. We're so thankful our little boy is healthy! What a blessing from God!
